I will like to ask if any of you are driving this particular model, as I have been experiencing it gearbox problems. A couple of time while in the jam, the panel will display a red message warning me that the Auto gearbox over heated. Did went and told the service staff at Wearners, which they told me that this car is using dual clutch.

In a traffic jam situation, it will be advisable that i put it to neutral to prevent it from overheating, as the clutch system well keep on engaging while stationary during the jam.

The other problem that i am experiencing is that at times, after starting the engine and move on, i will experience jerking or the gears not changing by itself and will keep dragging the gear when i accelerate. Suppose to move from 3 to 4th gears, the gear will just stuck at 3rd. Feedback to the service staffs before during routine servicing, they told me sometimes it is the on board computer system error, which I will need to stop the car, cut off the engine and wait for a few seconds before restarting the engine again and the problem will go away.

This morning such problem happen again while i was on ECP. As i am not able to stop the car in the middle of expressway, therefore, I stop it after reaching the traffic light near Bugis. But before that I switch the gear system to manual while on the expressway. I was on 4th gear and try to swift the gear up as i moved faster, but the gear just skip 5th and go straight to 6th gear.

Same thing when lowering the gear. I will skip 5th gear and move straight to 4th while i was on the 6th. My concern now is that as this car is coming 3 years old. Should I get the gear box change while it is still under warranty? S: I am a normal driver whom don't play with manual gear as I used automatic gear since this is a daily car. When i do reversing, I will wait for a second or 2 before swifting from D drive to R. When was the last time you changed the oil in your DCT?

But if you are under warranty, Wearnes telling you to switch off car to clear fault code is quite unacceptable.

The Mégane II Owners' Club

I would go insist they change your gearbox. Well, i will always choose to travel by expressway as much as possible, seldom will i catch myself in the traffic. Also, my mileage at this moment is already 70k km plus and I have been regularly send the car for servicing at Wearnes as the servicing mileage is set at every 10K km I will check with the service centre again as I'm rather concern on it as I read up that a change of the gear box will cost a bomb Better hurry to wearnes request to diagnose n replace gb if not essential components before warranty expires.

To put in nuetral is uncecessary as the computer does it for you anyway, makes no difference. The main resaon for the overheat is the "creeping" in which there is slip. The vehicle service manual should be consulted for more information on possible causes of the fault, along with required testing. The problem is caused by the variable cylinder management system switching on and off during light throttle conditions, at cruising speeds, or when driving on flat roads.

The constant switching causes excessive oil consumption and the trouble codes appear when oil pressure drops to the point where it can no longer operate the VCM system. Gasoline engines use spark plugs to cause an explosion of fuel within the cylinder. In a properly timed engine, this explosion occurs at the proper moment to send the piston to the bottom of the cylinder and provide power to the drive shaft.

If the plug wires are out of sequence, the explosion occurs at the wrong time. The improper timing of the explosion sometimes pushes the cylinder the wrong direction or interferes with the turning of the crank.

As a result, the engine stutters or backfires, if it runs at all. Put plugs in and we still have the same fault but it does fire up better after leaving it. I have located the glow plug unit and have the feeds going in but have no data to compare to. I have a Vauxhall Movano with the same G9U engine but sadly being an 04 and I assume the older Euro spec, the glow plug module is different as I was going to swap it out.

However pulling the plug off mine gives me the same fault code. Have another Interstar with the same engine in for an MOT tomorrow on a 57 so will try switching them over as it's a 30 second job and easier than playing with the multimeter. Could you not have just run an actuator test with an Amps clamp connected?DF OBD2 reports a sensor fault, replacement of the sensor is unlikely to resolve the underlying problem. The fault is most likely to be caused by the systems that the sensor is monitoring, but might even be caused by the wiring to the sensor itself. OBD 2 DF code and tailpipe testing are two different approaches to identify vehicles in need of repair.

The OBD system looks for broken or malfunctioning emissions control components while tailpipe tests sample a vehicle's exhaust to see if it is above or below certain prescribed limits. Given the robust nature of today's emissions control components, it is entirely possible for an individual component to malfunction without leading to an immediate increase in emissions at the tailpipe.

In such cases, other components like the catalyst can temporarily compensate for the part that is broken however, these other components can only do double duty for so long before they, too, begin to malfunction. Because of its ability to monitor individual components, OBD is able to give motorists an early warning that repairs are needed; it is because of this early warning capability that OBD will sometimes fail vehicles that would otherwise pass a tailpipe test.

Remove the air filter box assembly so you can access the transmission range switch. Turn the key to the ON position, but do not start the vehicle.

This i tracked down to a severed wiring harness where the boot hinges to the body. Around about the same time i noticed the service light and engine MIL light flicker on briefly before staying permamently lit, along with a 'Check Injection' message.

I replaced the rear faulty wiring loom and now all lights and the wiper are working correctly but the engine service light and MIL light are still stuck on, and as a result it has left me with no turbo power after revs and no revs above I did not notice the loss of power due to the bad winter weather but despite having the light reset, which just clears the mil light but leaves the service light lit along with the loss of power, the MIL light comes back on after about 5 miles of driving or so.

I have checked the code on a diagnostic code reader not clip and it comes back with 2 codes, P sensor reference voltage open circuit, and also p glow plug control circuit. I have changed the glow plugs, and also the glow plug relay, but this makes no difference.

I have checked the continuity of all of the connections to all the sensors from the ECU and there are no breaks in the loom. I am based in chesterfield and cannot find a local Renault specialist within a 50 mile radius. Last edited by 2cheapbyfar on Tue Mar 23, pm, edited 1 time in total. PM me.

Silver 08 plate 5dr 1. There are circuits listed which you need to check. The clip diagnostic suggested i check the egr valve, throttle potentiometer and refrigerent pressure switch eehhhh??? I removed the plug from the air con pressure switch and it was very wet, green and pretty much knackered!!! I left the knackered switch disconnected, connected my elm back and reset the service light with the ignition on, and low and behold the service light went outuntil i started the car then it returned.

The car is now running perfectly bar a few other different issues and is not in limp home mode anymore, although the service light stays on until the engine is warm, restart it and then its gone, pretty much the same fault as when a glow plug goes down. I know the glow plug relay and glow plugs are working fine so i assume that once i reconnect a working air con pressure switch and new connector that this will then fix the fault with my glow plug circuit both have a diagnostic connection on same circuit.

I can only come to the conclusion that because the air con pressure switch shares the same diagnostic circuit 5v sensor reference supply voltage with the egr valve and throttle potentiometer deadly if faulty, see toyota problems!! I find it strange that a faulty air con pressure switch could be allowed to trigger a limp home modeI wouldve thought it would be on a different circuit to the injection computer and really annoying that all i had to do was unplug the damn thing then that would have sorted the limp home fault.

I didnt notice the air con fault before now, as it hasnt been regassed since a new engine was fitted by me 2 years ago.

Disconnected, dirty or fouled spark plugs are common causes for engines that won't start. Spark plugs typically need to be replaced every season or 25 hours of use. You should also check that the spark plug gap is set properly. If your spark plugs look good, problems with your ignition system can also preventing a spark.
